Take some time.

Take some time.

With access to so much music these days, it’s easy to get lost in the noise. Scroll too far, click too fast, and suddenly you’re 45 minutes deep into a playlist built by a robot with questionable taste.

I’m not saying your ears are broken — if you’re here reading this, you’ve clearly got better taste than that. You’re not using Nova as your daily source of sound. (Let’s be honest… that alone puts you ahead.)

What I’m saying is: it’s become too easy to let an algorithm do the work. Mood A, playlist B, vibe C. One-size-fits-all recommendations meant to inspire, motivate, or distract — depending on what kind of productivity cycle we’re supposed to be in.

But sometimes…
You just need to pick music yourself.
Feel it in your hands.
Drop the needle.
Turn the volume up until your chest starts to hum.

Sometimes you need to talk about it — break down those micro-increments in sound with someone who’s listening too. Not for the sake of critique, but just to feel something.

That’s the point, really.

Not every listening moment has to be curated by code. Not every mix needs to be trending. Sometimes the best records are the ones you found by accident, or sat with long enough to realise they were saying something.

I’m lucky — I get to do this often. And today was no exception. I spent a few hours with a friend, flicking through records, dropping the needle, winding it back, tweaking the EQ just slightly… and then doing it all over again.

It was perfect. And I encourage you all to do the same.

Now look — my shop isn’t the place where you’ll find the same ten records you saw at five other stores that day. We probably don’t have the latest hyped repress, and odds are, you won’t walk out with the exact record you walked in looking for.

But maybe — if we’re lucky — you’ll find something that makes you feel something.

Something that lets you slow down.
Take a breath.
Step out of the loop for a moment.

Whether it’s your new favourite record or just five minutes of escape — that’s the real reason we’re here.

So yeah. To summarise everything I’ve just said in a few simple words:

Slow down. Take your time. Treat yourself, and listen. Life’s to short for bad music.
