Isle Of Jura proudly presents "II," the previously unreleased second album from Ambient Warrior, following the success of the 2021 reissue of their cult classic "Dub Journey's" (1995). This long-awaited album, recorded between 1995 and 1999, emerges from the same enchanting fusion of instrumental dub, reggae, bossa nova, and tango that made "Dub Journey's" a classic.
"II" comprises eleven unheard tracks crafted by the brilliant minds of Ronnie Lion and Andrea Terrano. These compositions evoke the serenity of white sands, palm trees, and sunsets, set against the backdrop of clear waters and endless blue skies. Both "Dub Journey's" and "II" capture the golden era when Ambient Warrior crafted some of the most Balearic Dub music ever conceived.
Ronnie Lion, the son of an orphaned Jamaican jazz trumpet player and world-traveling musician, honed his skills in various genres, from soul and jazz-funk to blues and reggae. Together with his business partner Ras Joseph, he established the Lion Inc. recording studio and record label in Brixton, London, becoming a hub for roots reggae artists.
Andrea Terrano, an accomplished guitarist, producer, and recording engineer from Trieste, Italy, shared Ronnie's vision of creating boundary-defying music that celebrated their diverse backgrounds. Their collaboration was a melting pot of influences, resulting in the creation of "II."
Although they composed most of "II" during the recording of "Dub Journey's," it took several years to complete. Despite facing challenges such as changing distribution and studio floods, the album now emerges as a testament to their creative journey.
Today, Andrea continues his music career in London, collaborating with artists like Basement Jaxx and releasing solo albums. Ronnie resides on a boat equipped with an onboard studio, where he continues to craft oceanic dub albums. After nearly three decades since "Dub Journey's," they embark on a new chapter, with plans for a third Ambient Warrior album in collaboration with Andrea.
Artwork for "II" is brought to life by Bradley Pinkerton, adding visual depth to this sonic exploration.
