Seoul-based Baeyoon lands on Superkill Records with Doxa, four tracks rooted firmly in Detroit techno while keeping plenty of colour in the mix. Heavy kicks and bass sit underneath layered pads, melodic leads and intricate arpeggios, giving the record a warmer feel without taking away from its drive.

Doxa, Endoxa, Paradoxa and Spiritual Ritual all work within that same tension between machine rhythm and melody, with irregular drum patterns keeping things slightly unsettled underneath. Classic Detroit influence is clear, but the production stays sharp and contemporary rather than simply looking backwards.
