Deadbeat keeps the arrangements spacious and low-slung, leaving room for St Hilaire’s vocals to move through slow rhythms, deep bass and carefully worked echoes.
Across tracks including Hold on Strong, Dopa, Working Everyday and Peace and Love, dub techno and steppers rhythm overlap without losing the record’s spare, patient feel. This edition has been re-cut by Stefan Betke, aka Pole, at Scape Mastering, who also handled the original cut.
