Astral Love finds Jules Habib joining the dots between the different sides of the Inkswel sound. Trippin’ with Oliver Night has plenty of funk underneath it, Eachother (Fallin’) gives Andrew Ashong room to take things somewhere softer, while the title track brings Dwight Trible, Michele Manzo and Planetself together over a jazzier groove.
The nine-track LP also features Ruru.432, Colonel Red, Baba Israel, Stan Smith, Marietta Smith and more. House, soul, boogie and hip hop all turn up along the way, but it never feels like a genre exercise — just a broad, warm record with good songs at the centre of it.
