Jazz Dari Angkasapuri gathers nine recordings from Malaysian composer, arranger and trumpeter Johari Salleh, originally available only through scarce local pressings from the 1970s. Johana, Khayalan, Erie and Mengapa show the slower, more spacious side of his writing, with Salleh’s trumpet sitting firmly at the centre.
Hitam Manis, Pesan Ku, Bila Masa, Anda and Mengapa Berduka bring in more rhythmic jazz-funk alongside Malaysian folkloric influence and modal jazz. Audible Beauty presents the collection in a gatefold sleeve with an attached 12-page booklet of liner notes and previously unpublished archival photography.
