Alan Abrahams (aka Portable) launches his new label Khoi Khoi with a deeply personal and rhythmically rich EP that blends his South African roots with forward-thinking house. Long known for his expressive live shows and emotive production, this one showcases his voice front and centre. The title track “Believing” is a 10-minute journey—part ballad, part floor-filler—with raw vocals that hit right in the chest. The dub version strips it back into something a little more hypnotic, while “Le Morne” pulls into deeper territory, low-end and loaded with restraint. A stunning start to the Khoi Khoi label and a proper return from one of the genre’s most distinctive voices.
