Quenum – Slam 1987
Layers Of Truth Records (LOT001)
Quenum keeps it low-slung and slightly off-centre, with dubby space and microhouse detail doing the work.
Slam 1987 opens the Layers Of Truth catalogue with three Quenum originals and a Lucio Agustin remix of the title track. Recyclde and We Can Do It take the B-side, pushing things further into stripped-back minimal house and microhouse territory.
The drums stay tight while the rest is given plenty of room to move — small synth details, deeper atmospheres and a slightly dubby pull throughout. Lucio Agustin adds more drive to the title track without pulling it away from the understated feel of the originals.
