Ferotones is San Proper’s second album, arriving a decade after Animal. The eight-track vinyl moves through Housekeys, Best Seller, Really? and Remember The Future? with guitar, vocals and disco rhythm pushed further forward, while still carrying the slightly crooked feel that runs through his club records.
The Return, Catgroove, Buck Wild and Never Gonna Turn keep the second half moving between boogie, funk and house. Recorded over a small number of sessions with assistance from Darling, it’s a looser and more song-based side of San Proper without smoothing out too much of the character.
