We Carry Eden is a long-form work from Son Of Chi, the project of Rotterdam composer and multi-instrumentalist Hanyo van Oosterom. Spread across two parts, the LP brings field recordings, drones and percussion together with dub-weighted bass and traces of jazz, continuing ideas from his earlier CHI and Chi Factory work in a different form.
Long-time collaborator Omar Ka provides the voice running through the record, responding to van Oosterom’s collected sounds and tying the shifting fragments together. Rhythm comes and goes rather than taking over, leaving plenty of space between the spoken word, environmental recordings and more abstract electronic detail.
