梦游 Sleepwalker is the debut release from SY3, the LA-based trio of Kelly Guan, Alex Ho and Phil Cho. Electric Puppy, Tell Me, PLS and Grace move through downtempo electronics and understated pop songwriting, with the group’s shared interest in Cantonese pop and melody-driven dance music sitting quietly underneath.
The title track closes things differently, pairing a Cantonese spoken-word story with drifting ambient production and layered saxophone from Ho. Across all five tracks, SY3 keep the sound intimate and slightly blurred, with Hong Kong New Wave cinema providing as much of a reference point as any single musical genre.
